MoPA TheatreMore than 250 people squeezed into the Museum of Photographic Arts theatre on August 17, 2011 to see my special slide program commemorating the centennial  of Machu Picchu’s discovery. An unexpected surge in ticket sales at the event left dozens outside and we ended up starting 15 minutes late. My apologies to those who couldn’t make it in. Discussions are underway for another event so please check back here to learn about a new date.

Yes, it has been 100 years since the explorer Hiram Bingham first discovered Machu Picchu in Peru. His discovery was chronicled in the April, 1913 issues of National Geographic Magazine. For nearly 400 years the site was abandoned and completely covered by the surrounding native forest.

My coffee table photography book “Stone Offerings – Machu Picchu’s Terraces of Enlightenment” was published in May, 2009 and won the 2010 Benjamin Franklin Award for best Arts book. It’s available at the MoPA book store or online here.
